Tough Games for BDD

How will all the BDD teams fair with their schedules? How many tough games will they have?

Honaker shouldn't have too much trouble this year as far as district games. However I've heard Lebanon is suppossed to be improved, and this is the first year we play Tazewell, but they have been underdogs in the SWD the past couple years. John Battle was pathetic last year, and the rest of our games are against div 1 schools (Twin Springs, Rye Cove, C-Wood, St Paul) Although Rye Cove gave us a little trouble last year as I recall. Is Rye Cove div 2 now? I've heard they moved up. [img]biggrin.gif[/img] I'm looking forward to seeing Honaker and Richlands playing each other in football again even if it is just a scrimage [img]biggrin.gif[/img] lol.

Bottom line for Honaker is, Hubbard doesn't like trying to schedule tougher schools, and that hurts us in the play offs almost every year I think.

I wouldnt say honaker wont have trouble with district games. They've lost a few people but they probably will dominate everyone due to the fact Haysi isnt going to be nearly as strong as thought

Rye Cove has moved up to Div 2 this year, Where as Castlewood has moved to Div 1.
And I agree, not playing better teams in the regular season can only hurt a team come play off time. The perfect example is Appalachia. They play Honaker, they played Gate City for years before the Blue Devils rejoined the LPD. They play Sullivan North (AAA), and Cloudland (1A powerhouse) from Tennessee.
Now I just wonder, how many state championships would they have if they *****d thier regular seasons with teams like Ervinton, Twin Spings and the likes? No disrepect to these teams, but you can learn alot more from better teams and more successful programs.
I would love to see Honaker play George Wythe, Gate City and Powell Valley in the regular season. Yes they could suffer a few loses here and there, but in the long run I beleive that it would increase the chances of a state football title coming to the BDD.

Has a BDD school EVER won a state championship in football? Honaker, led by Heath Miller got second place in 2000, but has anyone ever gone the distance?
